 Job Description:

Resource 1 is in need of a strong Network/Systems Engineer for a 6 month contract-for-hire opportunity in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

The primary skill is Cisco networking and some type of certification is preferred, but not required (CCNA or CCNP). Experience with Cisco Catalyst 6500 series and Nexus 5000 Switches is preferred. Individual should have some experience with Windows network administration (2003/2008) and Red Hat Linux. Experience with SAN (EMC VMAX storage) is a big plus. Local candidates are preferred (Chicago/Milwaukee area), but non local candidates who want to relocate to the area will be considered.

Requirements:

5+ years experience with administering Cisco networking technologies or Enterprise Server Environments - Cisco certification preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft and Linux technologies, networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP and remote communications.
Experience with virtualization techniques, backup methods, database system management functions and SAN based storage solutions a plus.

Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain systems and software.
Support server software/hardware and related applications/systems.
Design systems that proactively monitor health and performance of systems/infrastructure.
Implement tools to provide analytic trend analysis, capacity planning and performance data.
Document existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.
Research/recommend emerging technologies to increase cost effectiveness, system ability and expandability.
Act as a liaison between IT management and remote branches/technicians.
Design, configure and deploy networking facilities throughout the company.
Develop IT Infrastructure standards for various operational areas.
Assist in the day-to-day network operation, analysis and troubleshooting.
Monitor local and wide area network health/capacity limits.
Assist with design and implementation of new and existing sites.
