Desktop Engineer

 Job Description:

Resource 1 is in need of a Lead Desktop Engineer for a 6 month contract-for-hire opportunity in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Individual will need to have strong technical skills, but will also be acting in a leadership role in the team of 7 and will mentor the engineers with less experience. Communication skills and working with user is critical. Local candidates in the Chicago or Milwaukee area is preferred, but they will consider nonlocal candidates who are interested in coming to the area.

Requirements:

8+ years Information Technology experience
Expert in configuring/deploying virtualized software/desktop environments (XenApp, Citrix, VMWare, etc)
Advanced understanding of Windows 2003, XP, Vista, Win7, Microsoft Office products and Apple products (OS 10.x, iPhone and iPad).
Interacts well with customers and clients - enjoys building trusted relationships.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to delegate work.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot complex desktop issues and provide Level III support to the Desktop team.
Analyze current systems/processes and recommend ways to increase speed/configuration consistency.
Work with vendors to develop and implement permanent fixes and enhancements to systems.
Architect, test and deploy desktop management/upgrade strategies.
Perform regular system and process audits.
Develop troubleshooting procedures. Maintain installation documentation and how-to procedures.
Document and report status/progress of assigned tasks.
Implement large-scale upgrades and fixes.
Maintain consistency of software configuration.
Plan and deploy new software solutions through all phases.
Assist in formulating and implementing procedures to improve IT service levels.
Assist in creating, enhancing and executing detailed work plans/schedules for assigned projects.
Manage and facilitate projects involved with department moves, deployment of new systems and upgrades.
