Data Protection Storage Engineer

 Job Description:

Resource 1 is in need of a Data Protection Storage Engineer for a 1-year contract in Brookfield, WI.

Individual will be responsible for the ongoing management of the enterprise storage infrastructure for distributed products. This position reports to the Enterprise Storage Manager and is part of a dedicated Storage team that works closely with other engineering and operations teams to provide technical support for all storage management-related activities. This position requires a background in SAN management, with a demonstrated ability to implement solutions, manage change, and add capacity in a large-scale, mission-critical, multi-TB storage environment. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary. A strong background in large-scale storage infrastructure is required.

Essential responsibilities and capabilities include:

• Ability to apply knowledge of SAN fabric architecture and sound technology architecture principles to deliver high-quality, analysis of enterprise performance.
• Network knowledge, including bandwidth, NIC configuration, CIFS, NFS and NDMP.
• Operating Systems knowledge, including Windows and Linux, is required. HPUX and Solaris knowledge would be a plus.
• New technology awareness and research skills are necessary.
• 24x7 operations support and on-call support responsibilities.
• Participation in Disaster Recovery infrastructure planning, and testing.
• Experience with large storage environments (400TB+).
• Experience in performance tuning and capacity planning is required; as is experience with proactive monitoring and automation.

Technical Skills: SAN, NIC configuration, CIFS, NFS, NDMP, MS Windows, Linux, UNIX, On-Call Support, Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning.
