Nowadays, organizations are recruiting young talent from colleges and universities to widen their employee base. Campus recruitment refers to this process. Colleges/universities and corporates come together at a common platform either at college campus or at corporate premises to meet employment needs. Campus recruitment is more prevalent in IT, engineering and management
At college/universities, a placement committee is formed which works for students’ placements in industrial training and job. The members of the committee work hard and invite companies. They give them a brief introduction about the institute/university and the skills sets present among the students. The organizations visit the colleges/universities and promote themselves. They give a brief introduction about the vacancies and job profiles. Also, some institutes/universities go for joint-campuses for their final placements, where the company and institutes/universities gather at a common place for recruitment.

Recruitment & Selection Process
The recruitment and selection process is then divided into stages. One has to pass the preceding level to go on to the next level. Thus, organizations can select the best people.
Level 1: Academic Record Organizations develop some criteria to select the best students of the institutes/universities. Generally this is based on the academic statistics of student. For example, institutes/universities employ 60+ throughout criteria, i.e. the student must have scored more than 60% in all the qualified examinations.
Level 2: Aptitude Test Some organizations opt for aptitude test. On the basis of their scores in the test, students are short-listed. The short-listed students move on to the next stage.
Level 3: Group Discussion Institutions/universities and organizations organize group discussions wherein the recruiters check the leadership skills of students. On the basis of their participation, the students are short-listed.
Level 4 Personal Interview Representatives from organizations interview the students. This is usually an HR round, where the interviewers are HR personnel. Project manager may join the recruitment team. Questions related to student’s personal aspects are asked to measure his/her communication skills, personality traits and suitability for the organization.
Level 5 Technical Round Technical persons, i.e. the project managers interview the short-listed students in order to measure their technical qualifications and competencies. Interviewers ask questions related to job profile and analyze the suitability of the student.
Level 6 Management Interview The top management (CEO or Head) of the company interviews the student after he/she has been short-listed through the technical round. The student is reconsidered for the position. The interviewer assigns the most suitable job position to the candidate.
Level 7 Salary Negotiation The selected students are then called for salary negotiations. Here, the students can bargain the compensation package offered to them. Their job profile is discussed. The date of joining is also scheduled.
