The market for finance and accounting jobs in Indonesia is not much flourished and is relatively smaller than market of other neighboring countries like Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Only 400 accounting firms 75 per cent of which is located in the capital (Jakarta) operates in Indonesia. But though the market is small in Indonesia, a large number of professionals work in these 400 accounting firms.
The job market for finance and accounting jobs particularly fell after the financial crisis in the country in the year 1997. People engaged in finance and accounting jobs in Indonesia faced heavy criticism from the people of the country and for the last one decade have faced a number of challenges.Now the government is expecting some improvement in situation as it has plans to revise the corporate law.
There is a good demand for auditing professionals in the country but the auditing of the listed companies are done by four big auditing firms as auditing is not mandatory in Indonesia.
However the government is expecting the local audit market to grow with more employment in finance and accounting jobs in Indonesia as it is planning several initiatives for the improvement of financial reporting and corporate governance

Educational qualification: Bachelor's degree in accounting is the minimum criteria for any kind of finance and accounting jobs in Indonesia.
Chartered accountants, cost accountants (CA, ICWA) get more preference. Also basic knowledge of computer applications and handling is essential.
Work experience: For higher posts like managerial levels at least an experience of two-five years is sought.
Working hours: Generally finance and accounting professionals work for seven-eight hours per day. But in certain cases like end of fiscal, half-yearly closing they have to work much longer.
Pay scale: Nothing is specified about pay scale for finance and accounting jobs in Indonesia.
