The education system of Oman has been informal since ages. The modern educational system of the country is a recent development in 1970 under the guidance of H.M. Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. Vision 2020, a document published by the Ministry of Development in 1997 has led to the development of the education standards. Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is a must for any teaching job in Oman especially in the primary section.
For teaching in the secondary section, a master's degree is required. For teaching jobs in colleges and universities, along with master's degree, specialization in the particular subject and a PhD degree will be required. For administrative posts in the teaching organization, a bachelor's degree in business, human service or a related field is required. Excellent organizational skills along with superior communication and interpersonal skills is required. The job seeker must have good communication skills in English. Those who want to apply as language teachers must have done a certificate course in that language.

 
Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience is required for teaching jobs in Oman. For jobs in colleges and universities at least 5 years of experience is required. For language teachers, 3 years of experience on TESL(Teaching English as Second Language) is required.

Working Hours:
A school week in Oman runs from Saturday to Wednesday with Thursday and Friday as off days. The working hours for teachers is 40 hours. The normal school hours comprises as the working hours for the teachers.

Pay Scale:
Pay scale for teaching jobs in Oman is not specified but it generally depends on the experience and qualification of the candidate. Along with the salary teachers also get different benefits such as they get all the national holidays and also 45 days of annual leave as per ministerial discretion.
