Biographical data, known as biodata, is an important tool in measuring a candidate’s suitability for a job. It is used for pre-screening of the candidate. Interviewers judge a candidate on the basis of his/her biodata. The candidate is expected to provide facts in his/her biodata. The information provided is crosschecked through questions and certificates. A biodata must be structured properly as interviewers consider it a reflection of candidate’s personality.

Biodata is a self-assessment tool, where the candidate describes his/her demographic, experiential, or attitudinal variables. The candidate describes his/her educational background, social background and other important facts. He/she also specifies his/her achievements, hobbies and interests and some references of the persons who can take the candidate’s guarantee.
