A job interview is the first encounter with the prospective employee of your organization. As an HR person, it is your duty to explore different aspects of the personality of a job seeker. So, experts have framed a string of 10 questions that are aimed to explore how the job seeker thinks and whether or not he is suitable for your organization. Answers to these questions are critical to their employability and seriousness about the job profile that you have.

1. Tell me something about yourself?

This question basically is an opening question and offers the job seeker an opportunity to market himself. Apart from the basic introduction, it also tells you about his confidence level and what he thinks about himself.

2. What are your strengths/weaknesses?

This is a critical question and is very effective to briefly understand the personality of an individual. Most of the candidates are often baffled while answering this question.

3. What is your greatest achievement?

This question throws light upon the efficiency and the potential of a job seeker. It helps you assess the utility of an individual apart from his regular job role.

4. Why did you leave your previous job?

This question directly hits at some critical areas of an individual's past. If the reason he's left his last job is related to his misconduct, underperformance, or inability to work as a team, there is a clear indication not to hire him.

This question is aimed to assess the seriousness and passion of a candidate about the job profile. The facial gestures of the candidate often speak volumes about his inner thoughts. If he is going to join your company temporarily or just because of the package involved, he would not be able to answer this question properly. Body language is more important to watch, while noticing how the candidate is replying to this question.

6. Why did you apply for this position?

This is also a supplementary question to check the seriousness and passion of the candidate about a specific job profile.

7. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

This question helps you assess the dreams and long-term objectives of a candidate to know whether they sync with the current profile, he is applying for.

8. Why should we hire you?

This question gives the candidate a chance to put his best foot forward and explain the unique sales propositions related to his candidature. It also differentiates the best candidates from others.

9. What are your salary expectations?

This question is aimed to know the monetary requirements of a candidate and also his priorities. It also helps you know if the requirements of the candidate are in accordance with your offer.

10. Do you have any questions for me?

This is the last question and it is aimed to give the interviewee an opportunity to ask something that is critical and could not be discussed during the interview. It also helps an interviewee to get his answers about the organization.
